The B&A (Baltimore and Annapolis) Trail is one of the most popular running locations for the greater Annapolis area. The paved trail spans 13.3 miles making it a perfect location for long or short runs as well as bike rides and casual walks. Additionally, many local businesses, including favorites like Naval Bagel, Always Ice Cream, and Big Bean Coffee are located right on the trail so it’s easy to get a coffee or snack. There’s also ample parking spots to pick from including the lot at Jones Station Road and Baltimore Annapolis Blvd in 21146, and near the Arnold area shopping center.
Pros of this Run Spot
-Long paved trail that is mostly flat making it a great location for long runs and speed work
-Most road intersections are on low traffic roads and drivers tend to be aware of trail crossing spots
-Ample parking makes its great location for meeting up for a group run
-Lots of places to stop on the way for a coffee or a snack
-There’s also trash cans located throughout the trail which provides a great opportunity to throw out used running gels
-Pretty scenery throughout the trail including a horse farm!
Cons of this Run Spot
-Given it’s popularity it can become crowded during peak days/times, especially during the spring and summer (always be on the lookout for dogs and bike riders!)
-It’s frequently not cleared after snow/ice storms so it’s not a great location to go post winter weather
