The Shamrock 5k is a great start of the year for Charm City Run racing. A fast, downhill course in an energetic sea of green sets the stage for a great race experience. The course and cheering crowds can propel you into a PR, as it did for me this year. First goal of 2026 accomplished, sub 19 5k! I got close to sub 19 in a couple 5ks last year so 1 was ecstatic to finally break that barrier and was grateful to achieve it at one of my favorite races.
This was my second year running this race and I’ve thoroughly enjoy it both times, though this year was a bit more special as I ran it not just as a participate but also as a coach. The Annapolis Shamrock 5k group did excellent at the race and I loved getting to share the day with my coaching clients! Races are always best with friends to celebrate with. Plus, Charm City Run provides a great after party following the race. The Shamrock 5k is an excellent way to celebrate St Patricks Day and I love having it as part of my yearly traditions.
